Welcome to the Hannah Crawford Elementary PTO website!  We are your new PTO officers for the 2009-10 school year.  Our transition has been a pleasant one thanks to Mrs. Noblet and the former officers.

We bring in with us some new ideas which we will be excited to share with you at our meetings.  Our open, public meetings are scheduled for Monday, November 2, 2009, and Monday, April 12, 2010.  At these meetings we discuss old and new business as well as informing the public of where our funds are used.  Also, we will have a drawing for those in attendance, as well as performances by certain classes.

The goal of PTO is for the welfare of students; to encourage involvement of staff and families; to establish more thorough understanding between parents, teachers, students, friends, and community of Col. Crawford schools; to promote educational programs and projects.  We are a support group for teachers who represent the parents.  We report to the school board.  We want each child to have the highest advantages in physical, mental, and social education.

As author and motivational speaker John Crudele states:  “Kids spell love T-I-M-E.”  This is what they really wish for.  We urge parents to get involved with our events.  We have many areas to which we need volunteers.  They are included as follows:  Class parties and programs, Market Day, SPIRIT Store, Santa Shop, Movie Nights, Teacher Appreciation Week, Art Night, and our newest endeavor, Manner’s Lunch.

We are a fundraising organization with all proceeds going towards the elementary school.  One way money is brought in is by purchases made through Market Day, a delicious, easy frozen foods company; also, by Box Tops for Education, Labels for Education, and our biggest fundraiser…the Great Western sales event which occurred in September.

Our funds raised are contributed to Fun Day (March 27, 2010), various assemblies, school folders for each child, kindergarten gifts, various licenses, items for Movie Night, musicals and concerts, Teacher Christmas and Appreciation gifts, Spring Tea, Administrative and Secretaries gifts, 4th grade Dare graduation meal, 5th grade graduation cake, and the Last Day of School lunch.  In 2008-09, we also purchased classroom computers, computer lab head phones, playground equipment and supplies, a laminator machine, and a Provocraft Cricut cutting machine.

As stated by actress Helen Hayes:  “Childhood is a short season.”  Let’s seize every opportunity to be a part of our Little Eagles lives!  We hope you will join us in our mission.
