HIGH SCHOOL ADDITION UPDATES: (article updated on 3/17/14)
The OFCC, Ohio Facilities Construction Commission, has agreed to push forward with the (co-funded) high school addition. Along with the addition of the high school wing, the project will also include the demolition of the following buildings; Sulphur Springs, Whetstone, old middle school building, and half of the current high school building. The cost of the project is $6,480,294. Our share of the project is $31,014. The OFCC requires that districts pass a maintenance levy to ensure that the district can maintain the facility out 23 years. The district will seek a .5 mill Permanent Improvement levy in May to satisfy that requirement. The .5 mill equates to 5 cents for every $100 of valuation. That would equal to about $17.50 a year on a $100,000 home.
The legacy architect is Fanning & Howey. The process of selecting an owner agent was conducted on Tuesday, Feb. 18th. Representatives from the OFCC along with school administration and the board building and facility committee selected Regency as the owner agent for the building project. Brewer-Garrett was selected as the commissioning firm for the project from an appoved list of agents supplied by the OFCC.
